Google Chrome is now the number 3 browser

I have been using Google Chrome for a while now, it resembles true Google style in that it is very efficient and simple to use. When Google Chrome was first released it became very popular, it actually managed to capture 1% of the browser market within the first 12 hours of its release. Google Chromes very back to basic look makes it very easy to use, these features have no doubt increased its popularity.

chrome-market-share-jan2010Google Chrome has now been available for around 16 months, and in this short space of time has even managed to beat Safari down to the 4th spot, quite a feat. In fact Google Chrome in a short space of time now have 4.63% of the Global browser market share. Google are set to further push the Chrome brand in 2010 after releasing beta editions of the Chrome browser for Mac and Linux, once these editions have been rolled out I would expect to see Google Chromes market share rise even more.

There are a number of great reasons I use Google Chrome including:

  • Thumbnails – Google Chrome provides you with thumbnails of your most visited sites allowing you to revisit your favourite sites very quickly.
  • Speed – The main reason I use Google time is its very fast load times, making for a better web experience
  • Tidiness – The Google Chrome browser does not have a massive range of toolbars which means the web page appears less cluttered. This makes Google Chrome ideal for people who just want to browse the internet. I of course still use Mozilla Firefox for SEO due to the abundance of plug-ins you can install

Google Chromes higher market share should alert web designers to check their design in Google Chrome in addition to all the other browsers. It will be interesting to see how much of the market share Google Chrome will have by the end of 2010, any ideas?
