How Google Buzz Could Affect SEO

Recently Google launched a new social service call Google Buzz. Google Buzz has been designed to bring users social media content all together in one centralised location. Google have created Buzz to try and compete with large social media services such as Facebook and Twitter which now have literally millions of users.
Google have obviously realised that it is very important they compete in the social area so that they can still be seen as the biggest online force around. Buzz is much the same as any social networking site allowing users to share information such as status updates, stories and videos and much more. Google has created the data architecure in Buzz to be much more searchable than other social networking sites, allowing the data to easily integrate with their main search engine.
You can bet that this has been completed so that in the near future they can integrate Buzz into the main SERPs more easily. Google will try to make search more personal in the future possibly by integrating news results with specific results the users, perhaps images of friends and what they are currently doing.
As SEO’s we need to keep a close eye on Google Buzz, as this could soon become another medium to optimise to boost your sites visibility in the search engines. Apparently Google Buzz will recommend posts to read, passing more PageRank to the more interesting stories. Google may even place highly rated content within Buzz into a new social search system built into the Google interface.
If Google Buzz really kicks off it means there will be yet another type of SEO for us to undertake. This type of SEO however will be purely based on traffic and not PageRank. It will be focused on how many people share a particular article, again placing the most strength on the quality of an article, and not the Page Rank model which seems to be getting phased out.
This should mean that the higher the quality of your content the higher that article will appear in the social search results, which in my opinion is how the internet should be.
